Travel in Greece 2009

Last october our school organized a trip to Greece for the Comenius project “Inside Landescape, Landescape inside,”.
-at the Fiumicino airport-

I went there with three other school friends, four teachers and a member of “lipu”, an organization for the survival of birds in danger of extinction.
We left on October 13th in the early morning and we arrived in the night because there were some problems with our flight. I stayed at Lazaros’s house, and with this greek Comenius partner began a nice friendship.

There in Greece we did lot of meetings and activities with spanish, rumanian and greek students sharing and comparing our experiences and ideas about environment.
-at school-

We visited the principal and most interesting places: the Mount Olimpo, the thermae, the museum (in a hill) dedicated to Alexander the Great and Philip II, the White Tower of Thessaloniki.

The host school was really wonderful. One thing impressed me very much, in that school students have got about one hour break!!!
We came back to Italy on October 19th. I really enjoyed very much my trip to Greece.

My trip to Greece

My trip to greece

My journey to greece was a beautiful experience. Apart from the planes (delays

and lost luggages) it all went good.

The first two days we had two hours lessons, and then we went to a park where

we did games using the five senses, for example we had to make sounds with the

natural things we found, or we had to close our eyes and listen to the sound

that our partner was making, so to find them. I had a great time playing those

games and I would love to play them again. Then we met the administration at

the town hall of the city of Thessaloniki (the city is very big and it is divided in

two parts: Polichni and Efkarpia).

The third day we went to the mount Olympus, the weather was really foggy but

it was fantastic because there were a lot of species of plants. We also tasted a

special fruit: it was delicious, sweet, red and soft.

The fourth day we went to a termal center and to a museum where there were

foundings of king Philip II and his son, Alexander the Great’s tombs.

The fifth day we went to visit the “White tower” which was a prison in the past

but now it is a museum which shows Thessaloniki’s history. Then we visited four

ancient roman monuments in the city. We also went to St.George’s church, they

were fixing it, but it was still wonderful, full of golden mosaics...

In Greece they have a different culture, for example they eat very spicy things.

Everyday at school lessons last half an hour and students have a break of ten

minutes after every hour. In the toilet they have the blue color for hot water

and the red color for cold water.

The most beautiful things in Thessaloniki were the parks in the middle of the

city sorrounded by buildings and pollution.

I enjoyed my trip to Greece very much because I had the chance of meeting

new people and visit new places.
