Afternoon Comenius at the “S.S.Annunziata”Church

On May the 9th 2010 my 2 F schoolmates (Mattia, Marcello, Vincenzo, Michele, Valeria,Angela and Rosa) and I became the main characters of a fabulous experience: the afternoon Comenius for the picture exhibition of Montemurro school.

The Comenius project is an European project whose aim is the school integration among European schools. Our school is particularly developing its knowledge about the Landscape theme with its Spanish, Greek and Romanian school partners.

Last May the 5th , on the occasion of the final meeting with all the European partners in our town , my school organized a picture exhibition at the terrace on the Gravina torrent , near the Cathedral. After that from May the 8th to 9th our works were exposed in the small “S.S.Annunziata”Church which is in the heart of Gravina. In the afternoon of the 9th of may, a very important task was given to us: to chair the exhibition.

We shared our jobs and I had the job to be the guide . First I was nervous because I am a little shy but then all my fears disappeared. My task was to explain the people what we had done, it was really exciting, beautiful and funny too!!! I was really proud to represent my school in front of all those unknown people, coming from other towns on the occasion of the historical parade that was in town that day.

The exhibition ended at 8,00 p.m. when the principal and some teachers arrived; they paid us compliments for being so good in representing our school.

I think that this experience has been an unforgettable one because it has given value to our rich and cultural territory .

Pomeriggio Comenius nella chiesa della S.S. Annunziata

Il giorno 9 Maggio 2010, io e i miei compagni di 2^F Mattia, Marcello, Vincenzo, Michele, Valeria, Angela e Rosa siamo stati protagonisti di una favolosa esperienza: il pomeriggio Comenius per la Mostra di pittura della scuola Montemurro. Il progetto Comenius è un progetto Europeo volto all'integrazione scolastica tra i Paesi dell' Unione Europea. Nello specifico la nostra scuola sta approfondendo le conoscenze con la Spagna, Grecia e Romania sul tema del “Paesaggio”. In occasione dell’incontro degli studenti e dei docenti di queste nazioni nella nostra città, è stata organizzata una estemporanea di pittura il giorno 5 maggio presso la terrazza che da sulla Gravina, nei pressi della Cattedrale. I lavori sono stati esposti nella chiesetta della S.S. Annunziata in via Borgo, nel cuore di Gravina l’8 e il 9 maggio. Il pomeriggio del 9 abbiamo avuto il compito di presiedere alla mostra: ci veniva affidato un compito molto importante. Alle ore 18.00 c'è stata l' apertura della mostra. Ci siamo suddivisi i compiti: chi richiamava le persone e chi invece spiegava il lavoro svolto. A me è toccato il compito di fare da “guida;” inizialmente ero molto agitata perchè non avevo idea di come propormi... ma poi quella paura è diventata entusiasmo, coinvolgimento. In occasione della festa di S Michele e della sfilata del Corteo storico  lungo le vie della città, le strade erano piene di gente di tutte le età. Il mio compito di illustrare il nostro lavoro mi è sembrato bello, soprattutto perché mi sono sentita importante nel rappresentare la mia scuola. Hanno visto la mostra ragazzi della mia età, ma di altre scuole, gente proveniente da altre città in occasione del Corteo. Davvero una bella esposizione del lavoro della scuola Montemurro, una vetrina nel centro della città.

Le nostre opere ritraevano la parte antica di Gravina come il famoso ponte che fu costruito per permettere ai fedeli di raggiungere la chiesa della Madonna della Stella e anche la Cattedrale, un edificio bellissimo di stile romanico. La mostra si è conclusa alle ore 20.00 quando sono venuti il preside e i docenti, i quali si sono complimentati con noi per aver così bene rappresentato la scuola. Questa è stata un'esperienza indimenticabile perchè è stato possibile valorizzare il nostro territorio e farlo conoscere ad altri come luogo ricco di storia e di cultura. Un particolare ringraziamento va all'Amministrazione comunale che ci ha permesso di vivere questa stupenda esperienza procurandoci uno spazio pieno di arte e storia come sfondo del nostro lavoro e per aver segnalato l'evento nella locandina della festa. Prima d’ora non ero mai stata nella chiesetta di via Borgo, nel cuore di Gravina….. davvero incantevole!!!

6 may-Oasi Lipu-Gravina di Laterza

The international delegation visit the Oasi Lipu in Gravina di Laterza. The visit was organized by Pino Giglio as representant of our project associated partner Lipu - Gravina.
After the presentation of the site and the Oasi Lipu role inside the territory, the delegation had a walk inside the landscape in order to feel it with the five senses. Notes had beed written for the further documentation of the experience.
Thanks to our friend Pino for letting us live and feel, in contact with nature, a so impressive scenary!

4 may 2010-welcome with the FOlk Group "La Zite"

4 may-Arrival of the delagation in Gravina.
In the evening the Folk group, our associated partner, performed inside the school building to welcome the European friends. Polka, Mazurca, Quadriglia the most popular dances made.
Their colourful clothes with the perfect rhythm of the dances mixed with the emotion to be finally all together.
Thanks to the President of the group, Nando Fiore, and our friends and associated partners for  giving such a wonderful start to the project meeting!!!

6 may 2010-Concert and meeting of the local authorities

The 6 may 2010 the  Montemurro school classes joining the Comenius Project Inside Landscape, Landscape Inside, met the local authorities for the official welcoming of the european delegations at the Cinema Sidion. The Local Administration has been supporting the project for  two years as associated partner, with the Lipu and the Folk group La Zite.

The Counselor for Education and Culture Lorenzo Tremamunno, with some other representants of the Counsil, gave presents to each delegation and received some by them also as a mark of  friendship and thankfulness.

Lorenzo Tremamunno enhanced the importance of the Comenius LLP programme and encouraged students and teachers to continue!  He said young people may feel  the European contest as familiar as useful for their future thanks to this cultural exchange promoted by the School with the support of the European Commission.

The headmaster of the Montemurro school gave also his welcome to the delegations wishing everybody to have  a nice staying here in Gravina. He also thank families for the  support given in organizing the meeting as a meaningfull time for the school life and teachers for their works.

After this first part of the meeting, all students,  guided by the music teachers (Gelly De Leonardis and Elisabetta Martemucci) performed the Ode of Joy, surrounding the European friends by their voices;with us some "old" students of the Montemurro, Giorgia and Enrica Leone with Michele Cicala who performed as baritono solo. After the Ode, the main chorus sang  a selection of Italian musics (classic, pop, Neapolitan) to let our guests feel, through sounds, the italian  musical soul as an "inside landscape"  ......

7 may 2010 Visit to the Pulicchio

4-11 may 2010
Students and teachers from Italy, Greece, Romania and Spain visit the Pulicchio area on 7 may.
The visit, organized by the Ente Parco Alta Murgia- Gravina, had the aim to let people know the landscape through the five senses in order to feel the experience as a chance to built up a personal and original view of the site. Pino Giglio of the Lipu association, guided the group in discovering species and features od the area. Here you may see a collage of some photos made.
