Italian Landscape!!

We had our first contact with Italian landscape, visiting the Naturalistic Center Oasi, in Laterza.

It was a sunny day and we enjoyed a lot the explanations and the walk in the area. We also had the opportunity to explore landscape with “our five senses”. We could smell the sweet scent of flowers and herbs, hear the soft sounds of nature, see the wonderful sights, touch the rough stones in our way and taste different textures. Incredible experience!!

On our way back, we drop at Matera to enjoy a different city from our beloved Gravina. Visiting the antique habitat called “Sassi” was a unique experience, too.

On 7th May we had our second contact with “Landscape”. This time Pino Giglio gave us a detailed explanation of the flora and fauna which could be found in the National High Murgia Park Center.
.

After a fantastic guide visit throughout the park we enjoyed a delicious typical lunch meal in the “Masseria dell'Assunta”. It would be hard to say what was better: the lunch or the amiability of our hosts who turned this lunch into an unforgettable one
.
Aftr lunch and guided by Pietro, we enjoyed the visit to countless animals: horses, calves, peacocks, lambs etc. The students really enjoyed that moment!!

On 8th May we had an interesting walk around the rocky habitat of Gravina. We walked along its narrow cobble stone paths to a small hill from where we enjoyed an impressive view of the city. We also visited the impressive Cathedral.

Nice weather, a wonderful company, that’s a unique experience!!
In the evening we had the opportunity of seeing the Gravina a church carved out from the tuff rocks , dating the 10th century: San Michele delle Grotte.
